How to Cancel your Shopify Store and What Are the Alternatives

  • If you close a store, you can’t create a new online store that uses the same store name or the same myshopify domain. 
  • If you have outstanding charges against your account, you’ll still receive a bill after closing your store. Hence, ensure you pay them in advance. 
  • Cancel all the third-party apps integrated with your Shopify store to avoid being billed externally after canceling your store.
  • You can reopen your store within 30 days of closing it if you change your mind. All of your store’s data and configuration information will be preserved. 
  • If you’ve deleted your store while you were in the free trial period, you have to pick up a Shopify subscription plan to recover your deleted store even when your free trial hasn’t expired. 

Follow these steps to delete your Shopify store:

Step 1: Log in to your Shopify account. Then, from your Shopify admin panel, click Settings (1) > Plan and permissions (2). 

Step 2: On the Plan and permissions page, scroll down to the Store Status section, and you’ll see the Close store button like this: 

Click this button and confirm your password:

Step 3: A pop-up dialog appears with a drop-down menu of reason options. Select your reason, and then click Close Store (4).
